Budget season launches: Get involved
It’s budget season — time to sharpen our pencils and pull out the spreadsheets to prepare for 2010-11.
As in past years, we face a projected budget shortfall. We have reserves that can cushion some of the shortfall — about 4 percent next year — but our uncertain future revenue requires caution on that front. We are also asking for ideas to cut costs and areas where we might redirect dollars to focus on our top priorities: student achievement and our investments in classrooms and students.
I will propose a budget to the school board March 8, and public hearings will follow. Both the board and I look forward to your input. I know we all want to do our best for our students with the resources we have.
