Library
Our Library Assistant Mrs. Cathy Doty has developed a strong collection of materials and facilitates a variety of activities that develop and support students’ love for reading. Our annual Book Fair is held in conjunction with our Parent Conferences which take place in November.
Our school goal is that all of our students will become published authors by then end of each school year. Stories and poems written by our students are printed, bound and placed in the You Are the Author section of the library. Students authors are recognized at the end of each trimester with an Authors’ Tea.
Mrs. Doty also sponsors our annual Celebrate Reading Week each April. This includes a full week of activities focused on shared reading experiences for our students and culminates with a Storybook Character Parade. Students and staff dress in costumes representing their favorite character and participate in a march through the neighborhood to show their love for reading.
In addition to a large general library collection, we now have a Mandarin resource section with books available for check out to students and families.
Each grade level visits the library once each week for story time and check out.

Our PE teacher, Mrs. Maria Fitz is committed to providing a strong physical education program which emphasizes good sportsmanship and fair play. She utilizes the newly adopted Sparks PE curriculum which emphasizes
In addition she teaches team sports which include units on volleyball and softball skills. She sponsors a Spirit Week Volleyball Tournament each February and coordinates our Junior Coach program.
The Junior Coach program provides our fourth and fifth grade students with an opportunity to take on leadership roles while participating in service learning. Students attend a training to become a Junior Coach, and then assist our Kindergarten through Second grade students during the lunch recess period. Junior Coaches help peers with problem solving, demonstrate basic rules of group games and assist with distribution of the sports equipment.
Kindergarten students receive PE instruction once each week. Students in grades 1 and 2 meet twice weekly and students in grades 3-5 receive instruction three times each week.
