Wilson Choir Wins at State!

WILSON CHOIR WINS TOP HONORS AT STATE!
Wilson's first win at state championships! Come see them at Trojanantics on May 22 and 23 at 7pm in the auditorium.
Southwest Portland's Wilson High School Wilsingers choir reached new heights last Saturday, May 11th, at the OSAA Music State Championships in Choir at George Fox University in Newberg when they won the 5A choir competition. No Wilson choir has ever reached this distinction (according to the OSAA records kept since 1990.) Under the guidance of Choir Director Margaret Murer, and with student accompanist Gillian Bergman, the Wilsingers performed five wonderful pieces: Cantate Domino, The Seal Lullaby, Cantiam la bella Clorie, I Love My Love, and finishing with a rousing Elijah Rock. Following the performance, the students were tested on sight reading and had the top score of 11 other very qualified 5A choirs. Many of these students have been singing together for four years now at Wilson and some even longer since middle school at Jackson or Robert Gray Middle Schools and many dedicate their time outside of school to participate in other choirs throughout the metro area.
You can come hear them perform on Tuesday May 21 and Wednesday May 22, 2013, at Wilson High School TrojanAntics. This is a fun variety style show that allows the students to perform in solos or group acts in addition to the choirs performing more contemporary songs. It will start at 7pm each night at the Wilson auditorium.
The state championship was won by 57 fantastic Wilsinger choir students:
