Uniform/Transportation Statement of Understanding

All parent/guardians and students attending the Harriet Tubman Leadership Academy for Young Women are required to sign and adhere to this Statement of Understanding.

·        I understand that the Harriet Tubman Leadership Academy for Young Women is an all-girls college-preparatory academy with a focus on math, science, leadership and engineering.  It is a school that values rigorous academics.  Students are expected to keep up with all assignments and homework.  If they need additional academic assistance, they will be expected to attend homework club or tutoring.

·        I understand that students at the Harriet Tubman Leadership Academy for Young Women will be required to arrive at school in uniform every day.  The uniform consists of white polo shirt and black or khaki bottoms (pants or skirt).  Name brands are not permitted on clothing.  I will ask for a copy of the policy from the main office if I did not receive it in the mail prior to the start of school. 

·        I understand that it is the responsibility of the student/family to ensure the student is in uniform upon arrival to school and that if their student is out of uniform she will be sent home.  Please monitor this so students do not have to miss school for uniform infractions.

·        I understand that transportation is not provided to the Harriet Tubman Leadership Academy for Young Women as it is a focus option school.

·        I understand that family involvement is an important part of our program.
