Meet the Teacher
My name is Tara West and I am new to Sunnyside this year. I have been teaching for 8 years- 7 of those in Portland teaching ESL and the other teaching 3rd grade in Washington, DC. Before I went back to school to get my Masters in Teaching, I spent time working for an Environmental nonprofit, volunteering as an AmeriCorps*VISTA and then working for the Corporation for National Service. I am quite thrilled to have found a school where I can combine my past and current interests and careers so nicely!
Originally from Ohio, I now live in NE Portland with my husband Brian, 4-year old son Colby and our dog Marley.
I will be at Sunnyside Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays and my room is at the top of the south/east side stairs outside of the 3rd/4th grade classrooms' area. Please feel free to contact me there or by phone or email (twest1@pps.net) at any time!
