In the spring of 2010 a grant was won to build a garden in Sitton's courtyard. With the help of staff, students, and community volunteers the garden was built in the summer of 2010. The garden has six 4ft x 8ft raised beds for vegetables and herbs, it has a 100 sq ft strawberry patch, and it is landscaped primarily with native plants.
Sitton students now have an outdoor extension of their classroom. They participate in engaging, hands-on, and practical projects in the areas of math and science. They have also produced food to be served in the cafeteria, and they have provided fresh produce to families in need.
