In Literacy, we learned about the letter Ss and the corresponding sound for Ss.  Our cheer was, “Ss says /s/, spider in the soup, /s-s-s/.  Sometimes students will confuse the sounds of Cc and Ss.  (Mrs. Borst has discovered this in her class this year, as we stretch out words for writing.).  Here is a list of the letters covered so far with their cheer.

 

Mm

Mm says /m/, monkey on the mountain, /m-m-m/

Tt

Tt says /t/, turtle on the tightrope, /t-t-t/

Aa

Aa says  /a/, ant on the apple, /a-a-a/

Ss

Ss says /s/, spider in the soup, /s-s-s/

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

If you’re interested, here is a jump on next week – we will be introducing the letter Pp, and 3 new word wall words, “we, my, like”.  Shhh! It’s a secret for the students, so don’t spill the beans!

 

We are learning a new math calendar.  The days each month have butterflies flying up, down, left and right.  So our new math vocabulary is up, down, left and right.  Students have all paired a group of objects with the appropriate numeral, and have begun to learn how to group sets into fives and tally.

 

Just a reminder, please have your child return their Friday Folder by Wednesday each week.

 

Parent / Teacher Conferences are right around the corner.  If you have not already signed up at the Curriculum Night in September, at the Kindergarten Literacy Night, or the Sitton Kindergarten - 5th grade Literacy Night, you will be receiving a call or note very soon to schedule your appointment.  Conferences are scheduled for Monday, November 21, and Tuesday, November 22.
