The best
way to contact me is by e-mail jjacobse@pps.k12.or.us. If you would like to meet in person we can
set up an appointment, and of course I can always return a call you make to
Sitton at 503-916-6277.
I hope you take the time to look at the other tabs we have created, which
include what programs the children are learning, and how they enhance your
child’s learning experience. We will
also update those pages regularly with the projects we are currently working
on.
I have high expectations for student learning and behavior, and that all students can be successful in learning if given the right tools and strategies to do so. My job as their teacher is to be consistent and explicit in my expectations and provide them with a safe learning environment, where they can experience success.
This is my second year teaching Technology for Sitton, and thus far the experience has been fantastic. I really enjoy teaching Technology because students are excited to come into the computer lab and I know that what I am teaching them is something they can use right now and in the future. Our students need to be prepared to work in a job force where it is necessary to know how to use some form of Technology efficiently. It is so great that the students at Sitton are getting the opportunity to learn those basic skills now and have a foundation upon which to build, as Technology continues to grow and change.
As surprising as it may be not every K-5/K-8 school in Portland Public Schools
has a Tech teacher or even a Tech lab.
We at Sitton are incredibly lucky to have a dedicated lab and class time
to teach these vital skills at an early age, so the children are comfortable
with the technology from the beginning.
Outside the classroom, I have a number of interests. I love to Garden, Camp, and take road
trips. We go to Oregon Duck football
games whenever we can (GO Ducks!!!). I
also enjoy reading, especially to my daughter each night before bed.
