A Little About Me: My name is Ben Ellenwood. I grew up in West Hartford, CT and moved to Oregon 11 years ago. I attended the University of Portland and graduated with a Masters of Arts in Teaching. This is my 5th year at Scott School. I have been working with kids for 20 years. Not only do I do this professionally, but I am a parent of a 14 year-old and a 2 year-old, as well.
I believe we are all in the process of transforming ourselves through education. Kids are no exception. What separates children, and makes them so precious, is that their education is in our adult hands. As a teacher I am responsible for presenting all of my students with situations in which they can pick up the tools for transforming their own lives.
Each student comes to my class with their own set of skills, and challenges. Kids are people, too, after all. I look at my students as individuals on their own path of learning. I will try to meet the needs of each individual student.
