Dear Roseway Heights Families,

A huge thank you goes out to all of the folks who made last Saturday’s Auction such a fun and successful event!   It was a lot of work pulling off a party for 250 people.  Amber Traeden as the chair of the event did a fantastic job but she could not have done it without the many, many volunteers who helped collect items, set up for the event, and helped out during and/or after  the event.  And a very big thank you goes to everyone who attended and whether your purchase was simply your ticket or you were a big bidder, all of the money raised is significant in helping provide a more enriching educational experience for all of Roseway Heights’ students.

I have made a small staffing change for this second half of the school year.  Kent Anderson, 6^th grade science and 7^th grade AVID teacher, is also a licensed PE teacher.  Kent had the first period of the day without a class and had been doing a great job of providing some coaching and check in for some students.  We were able to spread out the support he was providing to some other staff and I have assigned him to co-teach PE for our 7^th and 8^th graders.  These two PE classes had the highest number of students and with Kent’s addition, he and Tammy West can focus on some more specific skill building and individual and small group attention.

I want to thank Gloria Daniels for her help with our Honor Roll Assembly for our 6^th, 7^th, and 8^th graders.  She wrote up a program and provided snacks which were very much appreciated by families and the students.  I plan to have the final Honor Roll Assembly in the morning of April 24^th with a goal of hopefully allowing more working parents to attend, as well as inviting all of our 6^th, 7^th, and 8^th graders to attend and celebrate the efforts of their peers.

Please consider attending our upcoming Family Literacy night on Monday, Feb. 27^th.  We will provide lots of activities for the whole family with a focus on ways to make reading and writing fun.  From 6-6:30 will be dinner and activities will be from 6:30-7:30.
