Homework will not begin until the first full week of school.  It goes home on Mondays and is due back by Friday. I will start slowly, with about 4 pages.  It will grow to about 5-6 pages per week.  I do my best to grade these on Friday and give them back to the students the following Monday.  Homework is a parent's opportunity to look in and see what their child is practicing in 4th grade.  It will always include a spelling list and spelling homework.  Our spelling pre-test is on Mondays, and the test itself is on Friday.  I try and hand these tests back on Fridays.  The rest of the homework is math practice.  As we have a new math adoption this year it will be different looking than what most parents have seen before (and better).

The math Problem Of The Week (POW) goes home on Wednesday and is due the following Wednesday, giving students a whole week to solve it.  The POW is intended to challenge students with their math skills.  If a parent wishes their child to opt out of receiving one please contact me first.  Some weeks are easier, some are very challenging.
