Parent & Community Involvement
Parent and Family Involvement
Looking for a school where the whole family belongs? Mary Rieke Elementary invites the whole community to participate in every way imaginable!
Parents are an integral part of life at Mary Rieke School. Since we know that school success is built on a powerful and effective partnership between home and school, we provide a myriad of opportunities for parent involvement. Our mission would be compromised without the outstanding support of our families.
Families are involved in the three major parent groups at Rieke, working together for the benefit of children. Many people help and have roles in one or more of these groups, and many others help on in the classroom, on committees, fundraisers, special events, or teacher support. The three major groups are the Site Council (which consists of parents, teachers, and the principal), the PTA, and the Foundation.
The Site Council sets goals for continuous school improvement and works on the School Improvement Plan to achieve those goals. Although there are designated parent representatives, anyone can attend the meetings, and minutes are posted in the hall. The Rieke PTA supports student enrichment and sponsors events to engage the school community, creating varied experiences that round out our academics and other activities. PTA fund-raisers are positive--often festive--events for our school families to enjoy. The Rieke Foundation focuses solely on providing funds that enhance our school staffing. The school auction has been its biggest event, and the proceeds have funded our library assistant position, visual and performing artists, and technology support.
