Mission

The Peninsula School Library exists to educate students and staff in the identification, location, evaluation and use of multimedia materials for their curricular, informational, and recreational needs. Library programs work to develop positive attitudes and aptitudes toward technology as well as traditional sources of information to promote life-long learning in students, equipping them with the media and information literacy skills necessary to become socially responsible citizens of the 21st century.

Your Librarian!

Ms. Gapp is your 2011-2012 .5FTE Certified School Librarian. She has a BA from the University of Oregon in Comparative Literature, her Educational Media K-12 teaching license from Portland State University, and a Masters in Library Science from Emporia State University. This will be her 8th year as a school librarian (or "media specialist"). For more about Ms. Gapp check out her blog.

"Welcome/Bienvenidos to your library! I am excited to be serving you this year and sharing my love of literacy with Peninsula students. We'll be learning things like how to navigate online databases and the indices of books, identify plot and theme, use the web efficiently and exercise cyber ethics. Students will review stories they hear using a blog and be able to identify what a reliable online resource is and what is not. In addition to traditional storytimes (K-4) and booktalks (5-7) you'll find us in the computer lab exercising our digital literacy skills. Literacy in the 21st century encompasses multiple mediums of information, and we will strive to equip students with skills they can apply across the content areas...as well as instill a life-long love of reading!"
