New online parent tool

Starting in the 2013-14 school year, PPS families will have access to student progress information in a new online tool called Synergy ParentVUE. ParentVUE will be available in multiple languages and also as a free mobile app.

Families will receive log-in instructions to Synergy ParentVUE and links to online support materials in Fall 2013. For more information, please visit synergyspotlight.pps.net

Annual MLC Marimba Recital

Free Computers!             

Through a generous grant from FreeGeek any student in grades 4 - 12 will be able to get a free computer after taking 2 - half hour long classes during lunch.  The classes are limited to 10 students per week.  The computers include a monitor, keyboard, mouse and speakers.  They are all preloaded with the Xubuntu operating system and a suite of software including office compatible applications. After completing the class, they can arrange to pick up their free computer at Free Geek! Get more info here.

Reduced Cost Internet Service

We recently got information about a program through Comcast called Internet Essentials for reduced cost internet service.  The cost is $9.95+tax per month for speeds up to 3-mbps. This program has limitations and information can be found here. Comcast Internet Essentials

Hooray for the MLC Auction on Saturday March 9th; it was a huge success. There was great food, shopping and dancing! The event was an absolute hit with many MLC families out for the night for a great cause. A HUGE thanks to the Auction Committee: Michelle Mize, Lauren Nathe, Michelle Mckeever, Diana Moosman, Stephanie Brown, Elise Eden and Tasha Pacheco. They put in countless volunteer hours to put together a wonderful evening. I truly appreciate the dedication given by our Auction Committee to secure and pick up donations, advertise and sell tickets, and create a truly beautiful event. Thanks also goes to all of our MLC families, friends and donors that helped ensure that Saturday night was a success. Thanks to all of you!!

Off into Space with the Kindergarten!

Many of our students will be going on various overnight trips in the coming weeks. We have the 4x5 students heading to the beach for 4 days, 40 high school students traveling to Ashland to participate in the Shakespeare Festival and our 6th grade students will be going to Ashland as well in early June to see “Taming of the Shrew.” These are amazing opportunities that wouldn't be possible without the dedication and planning our teachers do and the volunteerism of our parents to be teacher assistants on these trips.  Each of these opportunities gives our students direct experience with the standards they are learning thus deepening their understanding about the curriculum and how it applies to the world around them; what a gift of learning these opportunities provide! Be sure to thank a teacher and staff member this month for all they do.
