Who We Are

Metropolitan Learning Center
We are a diverse community of learners - students, staff, volunteers and families - who have come together to celebrate life, learning and the pursuit of productive, meaningful, mutually supportive and satisfying lives.

Our Mission

Our mission is a commitment to innovative learning for students of all ages. It provides for an environment in which the participants' needs, ideas and feelings are openly communicated and acted upon appropriately. Self-esteem and love of learning are consistent, valued themes.

Our Core Values

Every human being has intrinsic value

Creating trusting relationships, working together, and building on the strengths of our diversity are essential for a strong community.

Everyone has the ability to learn.

When individuals have equitable and just access to opportunities and their basic needs are satisfied, they can realize their full potential and contribute to their communities.

Involving stakeholders in decision-making leads to better outcomes.

Adult behavior is a powerful teacher for young people.

Assuming individual and collective responsibility for the choices we make is critical to creating the future we desire.

Our Beliefs

It is important for students to be responsible for their own learning and behavior.

Full participation is necessary for students to benefit most from their education.

Cross-age activities are beneficial to students at all levels.

Education is the collective responsibility of students, staff and families.

Working independently and solving conflicts peacefully are important to school success.
