Welcome to Room 200
Dear Families of Room 200,
Welcome to second semester. Students have had a very successful first semester. We had a great experience at Camp Namanu in early November. We added a pet gingko named Willie, Willie, Wonka to our classroom soon after returning from Outdoor School.
Sixth grade is a large adjustment, however the students have stepped up to the challenge. All students are keeping up with the weekly reading assignments and have just completed their first big Book Talk of the year.
In Math they have covered Prime Time, Fractions, Percents, Decimals and are in the process of completing an Algebra unit.
We have been particularly pleased with our new Science Curriculum. It is very engaging and hands on. Students are currently immersing themselves in body systems as a warm-up to a dissection unit.
Our classroom authors have produced many fine essays so far this year including, personal narratives, justice stories, hero essays, potato characters and "how - to" speeches.
Please feel free to contact us at anytime,

I have enjoyed team teaching classes of talented and energetic 6th graders with Margeret Dickinson for the past 7 years. Our focus is on developing middle school study habits, student creativity, and self evaluation. I am responsible for the reading, writing, and social studies portion of the curriculum.
My household includes a husband, three teenagers, a dog, cat, and three chickens. Needless to say, this keeps me busy. Whenever possible I try to find time to work in my garden, read something besides 6th grade novels, and hike in our incredible surroundings.
