Dear Families,
Today you will find several things coming home. You will find a packet of songs we have been singing. These songs are helping us with phonemic awareness. We have also been using them as phonics lessons. Phonemic awareness is the hearing, identifying and manipulating of sounds. Phonics is matching letters to sounds. Have your child sing the songs to you. Ask them to tell you about the work they did on the paper.
You will also find a “pocket” full of Teddy Bear and Gingerbread work. There is a separate letter, in the front of the pocket that tells you about the work.
The final item you will find is a math game to play with your child. I encourage you to have your child practice making tally marks when you are counting or sorting things.
Enjoy the long weekend. I am hoping for some snow!
