News From Room 113
December 9, 2011
Dear Families,
We have enjoyed reading and writing about different versions of gingerbread men stories this week. We will continue this theme next week also. Next Friday, December 16, we will decorate a gingerbread house. If you would like to join us, we would love to have you. We will be decorating our houses from 10:00-10:40. We would appreciate each family sending in a small bag of candy for our project.
Students will be bringing home a wrapped package for their family today (if we get them all wrapped) or next Monday. We have another project in the works, however it will not come home until after winter break.
The kindergarten classes have been asked to sing at our Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Assembly on January 13th. We began practicing this week. I am attaching a copy of our song. Have your child sing and sign the song to you several times each day. Although this date seems far away, we only have 12 school days until we perform! Your child should be able to sign these words: sing, caring, peace, world, loving, you, me, friend, together.
We took advantage of the great weather this week to plant some native plants in our Wildwood. We are very fortunate to have Jen Seamans, Torin’s mom, help with this project. Thank you Jen!
I will be sending the January Parent Helper Calendar home next Monday. Thank you very much for your support and help in the classroom. It is very much appreciated.
Enjoy your weekend!
