Site Council

Maplewood's Site Council meets monthly to review major initiatives for our school, drafts Maplewood's annual School Improvement Plan, helps plan our Professional Development, and approves the expenditure of our school Foundation money. This Site Council meets Oregon state law, which was set up to have input from the parents as well as the staff; they do not direct PTA activities, nor do they deal with the "management" of the school. Their role here at Maplewood is to direct the School Improvement Plan and Professional Development activities, and help decide important issues such as trimester vs. quarterly, Kindergarten options, etc.

The Site Council members are elected, and can contain up to three parents, five teachers, one classified staff member, and the Principal. Parents are elected for up to a two year term; they can continue their service for longer, if they choose to run for a second term. Elections are held in late April/early May each year.

Anyone can attend Site Council Meetings, which are generally held at 3:30 p.m. on the 3rd Tuesday of each month.
