This aerial photo shows our school site on 52nd Avenue, between Vermont and Multnomah Boulevard in SW Portland. We are surrounded by single family dwellings, with the exception of our helpful neighbors in the West Hills Friends Meeting Church directly across the street from our entrance.

Tours of our Building I will be conducting two tours of our school this year, where you get a chance to meet me, meet other folks interested in our school, ask questions, and see the school and the people in it. You do not need to make reservations, but I would call the school on the morning just before the scheduled tour to confirm! I look forward to meeting you!

The Principal will lead School Tours in the 11-12 school year: January 19th at 9:00 a.m. and February 16th at 1:00 p.m.

These tours give me a chance to proudly show the community the rich environment and activities going on at Maplewood. You are encouraged to come visit, and bring your children with you if you like. Call the school office and Kathy, our School Secretary, on the morning of the tours to make sure that it will still be held that day. I look forward to meeting you, and welcoming you to the Maplewood Community!

Our Building entrance faces 52nd Avenue, with parking on that street along the playground fence. (Parking is limited, so people often have to park on neighborhood streets). There is a large deodora cedar tree and some smaller maple trees at the entrance. As you look at the building, you'll see the two story structure on the right, which houses the full-court, wooden floored gym and stage on the top level, and the bottom level contains the music room, cafeteria, and computer room. This is also where the Art4Life after school program gathers.

Our main Playground faces the beautiful west hills of Portland, and includes a large grassy area as well as asphalt. The grounds include (not seen in this photo) baseball diamonds and soccer fields, playground structure, raised beds, and entrance to our Wild Woods (planting area that included native plants and Outdoor Education area with split log benches).

Maplewood Arboretum
These trees were planted March 24, 2006, to give our students and our community a chance to learn more about the beauty of trees. Help with the watering of these trees will be needed during the next few summers. Neighbors have volunteered to help with this watering, and were of big assistance with the planning. Thanks go to Portland Parks and Recreation Neighborhood Tree Liaisons for their huge support of this project!
