Moving to Portland from Denver, Colorado in 1976 to attend Lewis and Clark College, I received a B.A. in English and Political Science. After teaching multicultural and migrant students in Woodburn, OR, and receiving a Masters in Teaching from LC in 1988, I led Master Teacher literacy workshops for teachers across the U.S. In 1991, I returned to teaching Language Arts in PPS high schools, most proudly at Madison High School, where the "best young people from all over the world" can be found. When not reading essays, I enjoy gardening, art glass, jazz keyboards, photography, and family hikes.
