Practice Makes Perfect!

All students should be practicing their instrument/voice on a regular basis.  Madison Music has five practice rooms available during lunch and after school for music students to use.  Students who are earning an A or B grade each quarter are keeping a WEEKLY PRACTICE LOG of minutes they are practicing and pieces and skills they are working on.

The Music Department at Madison High School has been under the direction of Mr. Jason Owens since 2006.  The department is dedicated to musical growth and experience through performance.  Both instrumental and vocal ensembles are offered at Madison.  Music students can also study AP Music Theory and Composition.  In the 2011-12 school year, we are proud to announce the addition of four more music classes at Madison.  Percussion Tech, Women's Chorus, Cadet Band, and Men's Chorus.  Ms. Judy Rose, our new half-time Vocal/Instrumental teacher will teach Women's Ensemble and The Madison Singers and our Percussion Technique class.  Mr. Owens will also teach our new Men's Chorus.  During the 2010-11 school year Madison Music proudly awarded $2400 in summer band scholarships to U of O.  These scholarships were made possible by the Jason Canfield Scholarship.  Four music students spent a week at the University of Oregon working on their instruments, team building, and leadership skills.  All Sophomore and Junior music students at Madison are eligible to receive this scholarship on a yearly basis.
