The Latest Music News

  • Welcome to Music at Madison Fall 2013!
  • All-State Choir Auditions are due by Sept. 30th!  Check out the you tube video on how to make a good audition tape.  I would like all vocal students to work on making a mp3 at school this month.  The exercises required will make us all better singers.  Here is the link for vocal audition requirements.  We will be working on these exercises in class.  If you make an mp3 and get chosen for All-State, Madison Music will help pay for the All-State Festival!!!

Practice Makes Perfect!

All students should be practicing their instrument/voice on a regular basis.  Madison Music has five practice rooms available during lunch and after school for music students to use.  Students who are earning an A or B grade each quarter are keeping a WEEKLY PRACTICE LOG of minutes they are practicing and pieces and skills they are working on.

Madison Music

The Music Department at Madison High School has been under the direction of Mr. Jason Owens since 2006.  The department is dedicated to musical growth and experience through performance.  Both instrumental and vocal ensembles are offered at Madison.  Music students can also study AP Music Theory and Composition.  Every school year, Madison Music proudly awards over $2000 in summer scholarships to the University of Oregon.  These scholarships are made possible by the Jason Canfield Scholarship.  Four music students spent a week at the University of Oregon working on their instruments, team building, and leadership skills.  All Sophomore and Junior music students at Madison are eligible to receive this scholarship on a yearly basis.

PIL Choral Festival 2010-11
The Madison Music Choral Department consists of two main performing groups.  The Top Notes and the Madison Singers.   Each group focuses on the fundamentals of good choral singing while working toward performances throughout the year. This past year, highlights included the Top Note Fall choral retreat at Camp Menucha in the gorge, large group performances at the Grotto Festival of Lights and the PIL Choral Festival and performances at the Northwest Teachers for Social Justice, PGE and KBPS Radio.  Madison Choral has had three vocalists in the Oregon All-State Choir since the 2011 season.
