PopCycles, Lincoln's annual variety show, is this Friday and Saturday at 7:30 PM in the auditorium!  Tickets are $10 for students and $20 for general admission.  Come enjoy some awesome performances, including Gilbert & Sullivan's "Trial by Jury!" (McDonald)

 

ACE MENTOR PROGRAM -  Registration Deadline: December 10, 2010 - ACE is a 12-week after-school program (Jan 11 - May 19, 2011) that gives 11th & 12th grade students a hands-on introduction to careers in Architecture, Construction Management and Engineering. The program matches you with ACE professionals, or mentors, who show you where and how they work, skills they use and some of their projects under construction. This raffle fundraiser offers two great prizes – First Prize is 3 nights at a beautiful home in Gearhart and Second Prize is a set of Nike Golf Clubs. Due to Winter Sports – The gym is closed at ALL times! The gym is closed before school, break, flex, lunch and after school.

 

Need some holiday fun? December 13th‑17th STAND will be putting on a bake sale, cake walk, and a raffle in room 169. All the money goes to bringing speaker Gabriel Bol Deng to Lincoln in February. Gabriel, a Lost Boy from Sudan, will tell us about his experience escaping the genocide and how he made it all the way to New York. Raffle tickets will be sold at $5, and Cake walk tickets will be sold at $2. The festivities will run during break, lunch, and flex all week long. The raffle ends on Friday so be sure to get your tickets for a chance to win some awesome prizes, maybe even possible Christmas presents!  (Ancona)

Come to the LHS Track and Field 2011 Informational meeting this coming Monday 12/13 at 3:40 in the cafeteria.  And if you would like to do a light OPTIONAL workout of 30 minutes after the meeting, please bring workout gear.   Everyone welcome for just the meeting or the workout, or both!!! There will be a SPARKS lecture this next Monday, Dec. 13th in Room 169 from 3:45-4:30.  The speaker will be Larry Cheldelin MD and he will be speaking on Extracorpeal Membrane Oxygenation as it applies to critically ill infants and children.

 

Returning seniors of 2010 speak to their first semester at university - Bart Millar is hosting seniors from class of 2010 to talk and take questions about their first semester at college this past fall.  Guests from all over the country will be appearing, block periods next week, for periods 1,4,5,6 and 7.  Stop in at room 223 if you are interested and available, Monday.

SKI BUS!  The deadline for ski bus sign-ups is Saturday, December 18.  The bus runs to Mt. Hood Meadows on Sundays starting in January.  The program is open to all skiers and snowboarders -- beginners to experts, including pass holders.  Pick up a flier in the Lincoln office.

Camp Enterprise - Students interested in Camp Enterprise business camp in February will need to fill out an application and submit to Bart Millar or Jennifer Van Orsdel by Dec 15.

 

Career College Scholarships:  Students interested in attending a career college in 2011 may be eligible for a $1000 scholarship towards tuition. A list of participating career colleges is posted on line at:

LHS Sportsmanship Expectations - Students attending all Lincoln Athletic Events (PIL or Club) must refrain from cheering/jeering against the opposing schools or game officials. COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITY:

YMCA of Greater Portland is looking for volunteers.  The YWCA offers services to women, children, and their families through a variety of programs.  A wide range of volunteering opportunities are

available from sorting donations, to helping manage a thrift store, teaching computer classes to seniors, or even gaining professional experience assisting in our downtown offices.   Opportunities and events are available year round. If you are applying to UBC, there is a scholarship opportunity worth checking out.  See your counselor regarding a nomination for UBC'S Int'l Leader of Tomorrow Award.  There is also an opportunity for student's who demonstrate financial need.   Deadline is 01/31/11.   (Jennifer V.O.)

 

COLLEGE VISITS

The season for representatives from colleges to visit Lincoln is virtually over.  There will be an occasional visit here, and possibly in the Portland area.  Any additions will be posted on Naviance and in the bulletin.  Stay tuned. 

 

COLLEGE VISIT (Revision): Now on Tuesday, 12/14 at lunch-Mary Doyle, from Portland State University, will be visiting LHS again.  She will be offering "on-site"  admission.  This means you can fill out an application, pay your application fee ($50 check or exact cash only) and will have a decision in two weeks.
