Scholarship Information

Did you know that your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid ) could be filed as early as Jan 1, 2011? You don't have to wait for your W2s but can do a best estimate based on your family's 2010 tax return and amend it once your parents file their 2010 federal taxes. File online at www.fafsa.gov.

Need help filing?

Contact NELA  (Northwest Education Loan Association) for free help at 503-488-6000.

Ask our LHS counseling center parent volunteers for help.
The earlier you apply for aid, the better your chances of getting aid!

OSAC (Oregon Student Assistance Commission) administers scholarships and grants for Oregon students. Apply online at www.getcollegefunds.org. If you apply to OSAC by mid Feb , you are automatically entered in an early bird lottery for $500. Regular OSAC deadline is March 1st. The increased demand for OSAC grants exceeded the program’s budget this year, which required the Commission to reduce awards by $120 for students enrolled full time at 2- and 4-year Oregon colleges this second semester or this spring quarter.

So again, the earlier you submit your FAFSA and OSAC, the better your chances of getting the financial aid you need!

Application Recommendation requests

For seniors to check the status of their college application on Naviance:

click "my colleges"
go to "college applying to"
click "view detailed status"
Further down it may tell a student if teacher recommendation is "in progress" if teachers are doing recommendation via Naviance. Most teachers forget to click that they are done.. so take home message: kids need to check with teachers if recommendations are done.
