A Message From the Principal : John Horn
Lent School is proud to announce our recent recognition from the Oregon Department of Education as part of its Celebrating Student Success program. Lent is one of 10 schools in the state to be recognized as a Champion School for high achievement and reduction of achievement gaps. Our staff and students are very proud of this accomplishment and continue to work hard to increase achievement for all students. The following link, http://www.pps.k12.or.us/news/3456.htm provides further information about the award and a recent celebration at the school to honor our staff and students. The Oregonian newspaper wrote a nice article about Lent School and the award. I have attached a link to that article http://www.oregonlive.com/education/index.ssf/2010/03/portlands_lent_school_helps_di.html
Lent will be host this summer to several programs for students in grades 1-8. Students in next year's grades 1-2 may take part in a Summer Academy intended to boost reading achievement and students in next year's grades 6-7 may take part in a Summer Academy targeted to improve writing skills. Space is limited and applications for these programs are due by April 14. Other students in next year's 1-8 are eligible to participate in our SUN program, which also has academically oriented programming for students. All of the above programs are at Lent School and run Monday-Thursday from June 28 to July 29, 8:00am-3:00pm. Contact the school at 503-916-6322 for further information.
Thank you for your continued support.
