About Mr. Muir
| I have been teaching now since 1990, which makes....uh, some years (I'm not good with calculus). I was born in Portland and have lived most of my life here in the City of Roses. I attended Lewis and Woodstock Schools, Cleveland High School, Pomona College, the University of Washington and Portland State University, from which I have a Master's Degree in education. I still live in S.E. Portland with my wife and daughter, who's a student at the Village Free School. Alas, I have no dog. But we do have two guinea pigs named Buffalo and Braveheart. They eat and sleep--that's about it. I have a great interest in many of the arts--drawing, singing, piano, juggling, dancing, acting, writing. I also have a deep appreciation for the wonders of the natural world. It is my passion to share these passions with young people. I taught high school (for reasons unclear to myself), and taught at Clarendon for ten years before coming to Lent. I'm now in my fourth year at Lent. I have been fortunate to travel to China and Europe and see a bit of these United States. I like making lists, but so far have resisted the urge to make a list of all my lists. At least, I don't think I have. I'll have to check. I'm glad to be teaching at Lent! |
