When I moved into the Library 6 years ago after teaching in a traditional classroom for 14 years, I knew it would be great! How many people do you know that have to READ for a living! I still sometimes miss the intimacy of my own little class, but now I get to see nearly every student every week and work with ALL the teachers and families.
As Laurelhurst school's Teacher Librarian, my goal is to provide a comfortable and inviting space students want to visit and then to fill it with books they want to read. Hopefully, along the way we get to share with each other about the books we love, and I can share with them information that can help both in and out of their classroom. The Library curriculum is designed to promote the love of literature and provide the research, internet and study skills students need to be successful now and as they progress in school.
