Cynthia McAdams

This is my 28th year of teaching in PPS. The last 14 years I’ve taught kindergarten at Laurelhurst School. Prior to that, I taught first and second grade at Boise-Eliot School. The kindergarten age group is absolutely adorable! They are enthusiastic about learning and love to speak out. Often, what they have to say is quite funny. I love to teach young children how to read and am forever amazed at the attention span of 5 and 6 year olds when a good book is open to their eyes. The Laurelhurst community is wonderful to teach in because of the innovative teachers and the supportive parents.

I am a Portland native who appreciates the beauty of Oregon. In my spare time I like to garden, read and spend time outdoors walking/running with my dog and friends. I also enjoy cooking and entertaining family and friends in our home. I have been married for 27 years and have 2 daughters, the oldest a Middlebury College graduate who is now in her final year of pre-med courses and the youngest a junior at Oberlin College in Ohio. Even though both girls are independent, I still love playing the mom role, especially cooking and sharing good books with my family.
