Deanne Larsell

Physical Education Specialist

The P.E. program at Laurelhurst School is designed to encourage vigorous activity, develop movement competency, aid in the attainment of physical fitness, foster cooperation and creativity, emphasize safety practices and stimulate desirable social development.

My objectives are to:

  • Help students develop a lifelong interest in recreational activities and sports,
  • Promote acceptable standards of social attitudes, good sportsmanship and behavior,
  • Help students to develop useful neuromuscular skills and fine motor coordination,
  • Help students to achieve and maintain a higher level of physical efficiency and fitness.

Research supports the fact that the most formative years for impacting gross motor development and coordination are the Kindergarten through Fifth grade years.  The upper grade P.E. program should help to develop and promote lifelong fitness values, while providing opportunities for leisure recreation skill development.

We all know that physically fit people feel better, are more productive and cost society less.
