Photos of Room 10

Dear Families,

I've set up a "snapfish" account for our classroom.  It is a free on-line service that allows us to download and print photos!  Anyone can add photos and everyone can see them!  Brittanie Brewer, one of our kidergarten teachers, and her famlies have their electronic photo album up and running.

I'll include the login/password in our Friday letters or you can mail me for the information!

Thanks,

Carolyn

Carolyn DeSantisFirst Grade Teacher   As a teacher for the last 25 years, I am so glad to be teaching first grade again at Laurelhurst.  Our emphasis in primary is always reading, writing and math, but we will also fit in plenty of science, social studies, art, music, technology and library.  Please visit us in Room 10 to see what really happens in first grade.

Homework

The first Homework sheet will be coming home on Monday, October 3, 2011.  Please remember that your child cirlces one activity for each day.  It is due back at school on Friday.  I've informed your children they are responsible for getting homework back to me.  It's a little step forward for responsibility and independance, but it's important!

If you need an extra sheet, I've included one below!

This Week's Friday Letter

February 17, 2012

Dear Families,

Sometimes we have a “caddywampus” day in Room 10, but this was a “caddywampus” week!  For all the changes and excitement, your children remained cool, calm and collected.  We had a great week!

Thank you to Tiana Dixon for organizing a fun Valentine party and to everyone who came joined in.  Valentine bags were full and hopefully some of you received an extra special valentine.

We had lots of chaperones for today’s field trip, which makes it more fun!  Thank you for giving your time and energy.  It was a good time.

We’ve been writing, a lot.  Your children are/have been writing three books and editing each of them for appropriate upper/lower case letters and ending punctuation.  Everyone is choosing one book for publication.  Ask your child about the process and what they’re working on right now.

If you are planning on being away any days other than Spring Break in March, please drop me a note.  That way you won’t receive that recorded phone call and the attendance record will be accurate.

A few things to keep in mind…

2/20        -  No school.  Presidents’ Day.

3/21         -  Late opening.  School starts at 10:35.

        3/26-3/30  -  Spring Break.

Have a nice long weekend!          Carolyn
