Challenge Up: How It Works
Habits of Learning Will Be Graded
1) All work is expected on the due date assigned. The work will be graded down if it is late; no student will receive an A for late work.. Two exceptions are granted each quarter ONLY with the following conditions. First, parents must e-mail a request at least 72 hours in advance if the late work is due to anything besides an illness or a critical family issue. Otherwise, the work must be turned in before the absence occurs. In this case, students and parents together must submit the date the work will be received. If the work is not received by this time, it will be considered incomplete. With a caseload of nearly 150 students, it is impossible to track late work any other way.
Second, unexpected illnesses and critical family issues deserve exceptions, and we can deal with them as they arise. However, chronic illness is an issue that requires the involvement of other staff such as the school counselor to make sure that the student can prioritize his/her workload upon his/her return to school.
