A Message from the Principal
Fall, 2011
Welcome to School Year 2011 – 2012! We have our two Back to School nights under our belts and have experienced our first heavy rain of the season. It officially feels like we are back in school! I agree with several members of the community that our opening feels very upbeat and positive this year. Everyone seems ready to have a fabulous experience during school year 2011-2012.
If you were at the State of the School address before the BTS classroom presentations you heard that we are working to summarize our mission and vision into one easily remembered phrase. The one we have settled on is: Every student thrives at Laurelhurst! We have the potential and capacity to assure that every student at Laurelhurst is successful with the support of our amazing families and excellent staff. Our goal is lofty, but reachable. . .that every student thrives at Laurelhurst!
We are going to continue to work together toward our common goal of creating the best possible learning community for every student, every day. There are several reasons why this is possible. The first is our talented, dedicated staff. We continue to work to bring the best possible teaching staff to Laurelhurst. Next we have the phenomenal support of our families. Please know how much we appreciate everything that you do for us! We are extremely fortunate to have everything we need to actually make Laurelhurst the very best school in Portland!
Please keep me posted on how the school experience is for you and your child. Understanding your experience and learning from it helps us make Laurelhurst better!
My best,
Karen Pinder
