A Message from the Principal
Spring, 2012
Greetings! Things are looking bright and promising at Laurelhurst as we move into the spring season. A week away for Spring Break will undoubtedly give everyone a fresh perspective as we prepare to move into April, May, and June. The third quarter ends on April 12 with a teacher work day on Friday, April 13th.
As I visit classrooms, the first thing I look for is the level of student engagement. I am happy to report that student engagement is high everywhere I go! Hats’ off to our incredible teachers for making student engagement and quality instruction a priority.
One of the bright spots is the Laurelhurst Garden which has recently had some wonderful upgrades to the edible portion of the garden. I have had neighbors stop by to tell me that they plan their daily walks so that they can stop by our garden. It is amazing to know that we are able to inspire and delight those beyond our own school community.
Another beautiful upgrade is in our cafeteria where the new drapes were installed over sparkling windows over Spring Break. The crew who cleaned the windows- inside and out, plus frames, had their hands full, but they did an excellent job. Please stop by when you get a chance and see how great the room looks!
As a staff, we will continue with our equity work which helps us fully understand what it takes to assure that EVERY student has the opportunity to grow and thrive at Laurelhurst.
My best,
Karen Pinder
