Parent-Teacher Conferences are next week!
Mark your calendar: October 29th & 30th

Parent-Teacher conferences will be held on October 29th & 30th. Plan to come and meet with your student’s teachers to discuss how things are going this school year. You can come at any time during the three sessions that is convenient for you. If you would like to schedule a specific time, please contact your student’s teachers. Translators are available for families that would like one. We look forward to conferencing with you!

  • Morning Session | 9:00-12:00
  • Afternoon Session | 1:00-5:00
  • Evening Session | 6:00-8:00

** There will be no school for students October 29-31.**


 

Las conferencias de los padres van a tener lugar el 29 y el 30 de octubre. Esperemos que puedan venir para reunirse con los maestros de sus hijos para hablar de su progreso en la escuela este año escolar. Cleveland High 8th Grade Parent Night

Parents: Get the Straight Scoop on Cleveland High!

Want to hear about Cleveland through the eyes of fellow parents?  Find out the straight scoop at an informal open house sponsored by the Cleveland High School Foundation.  You will hear from current CHS parents about the curriculum, the teachers, the renowned International Baccalaureate program, school athletics and extracurricular activities, and navigating the leap from middle school to high school.

When: Monday, November 3 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm

Where: Hopworks Urban Brewery, 2944 SE Powell Blvd (we will be in the banquet room)

Girls Inc. Workshops

Lane Girls are invited to a Girls Inc. Workshop

Miss Representation Workshop: Wednesday, November 5th, 3:45 - 5:45
The Miss Representation Workshop will introduce girls to concepts of media literacy and gender socialization, as well as the ways in which media shapes our culture. Students are encouraged to explore how media is used to communicate ideas. During this workshop instructional clips from the documentary film "Miss Representation" will help explain how media shapes ideas around what it means to be a girl.

Equipping Your 8th Grader for High School

Is your 8th Grader Ready for High School?

You and your 8th grader are invited to a presentation on Equipping Your Eight Grader for High School on Thursday, November 13th at 7:00 p.m. at Lane. The presentation will be an hour long and will address how you can help prepare your 8th grader for the transition to high school.

There will be two simultaneous presentations; one will be presented in English with interpreters for Russian and Vietnamese speakers, and the second presentation will be in Spanish. Each presentation will include a high school counselor, our Lane Middle School counselor, previous students and a vice principal.

There will be ice cream sundaes at the end of the evening as well as free childcare available for younger family members.

What: Presentation on preparing your 8th graders for high school
When: Thursday, November 13th at 7:00 p.m.
Where: Lane Middle School

EdBox is now ParentVUE

 

 


EdBox Viewer gets new name in Fall 2013

In Fall 2013, as part of the transition to the new Synergy student information system, PPS will replace the EdBox Viewer that middle and high school families can use to access student grades and attendance. The new EdBox tool, called Synergy ParentVUE, will be available in multiple languages and also as a free mobile app. Families will receive new log-in instructions to Synergy ParentVUE and links to online support materials in Fall 2013. EdBox Viewer recibe Nuevo nombre en el otoño del 2013

En el otoño del 2013, como parte de la transición al Nuevo sistema de información estudiantil, Las Escuelas Públicas de Portland reemplazaran el EdBox Viewer que las familias de secundaria y preparatoria pueden utilizar para acceder a las calificaciones del estudiante y la asistencia. Second annual Children's Book Harvest to begin in November
