On the Road to Becoming an International Baccalaureate World School

King School is becoming an International Baccalaureate Program School. Currently we are considered a Candidate school in both the Middle Years Programme (6th through 8th grade) and Primary Years Programme (Pre-K through 5th grade).  The curriculum currently is using the IB inquiry-based model at all grades.  Once King receives authorization from the International Baccalaureate Organization, we will be certified as meeting IBO standards and will be able to proudly publicize our certification.

Our next step is feedback from the the PYP Authorization visit that took place on May 23rd and 24th, 2011.  Assuming all goes well, King should have authorization in months.

Students in an IB program benefit from a challenging, holistic, child-centered and inquiry based instructional program. Students are encouraged to tap into their natural curiosity and become critical thinkers. Inter-related components of the program help students to develop into inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

Students begin each year reviewing or learning anew the Learner Profile Traits.

Learner Profile traits are added weekly, as we study how to be the best students we can be! Dr. King is one role model for us as we strive to be internationally minded citizens. Talk to your child about other leaders, relatives, and community members that can be role models for success.

Also, please check out the display case near the office for information regarding us becoming an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School.
