Welcome to first grade! Here's a few things to know about our classroom:
Communication:
~Notes Home~ reminders of upcoming events, parent letters and/or informational news will come home with your child
~Bracelets~ important reminders for schedule changes, field trip information or party donation items will come home on your child's wrist as a bracelet
~Kelly Cougar Tracks~ Kelly School's weekly newsletter comes home every Friday
~Phone Calls, Email or Parent Conferences~ I am able to meet with you (at a prearranged date/time) for a conference, via email or by phone (503-916-6350 x71829). If you ever have any questions, comments, concerns, or to stay informed on how your child is doing at school, we can communicate in whatever way works best for you!
Classroom Donations:
If you wish to make a donation to our classroom, please check the supply list for extra materials, or call (503-916-6350 x71829), stop by or email for a suggestion. Thank you in advance for your generous donations!
Classroom Volunteer:
If you would like to be a classroom volunteer, please let me know and I can help you get the paperwork necessary to be a Kelly School volunteer! You must be cleared on our Approved Volunteer List to attend field trips, and the $5.00 fee is for the background check. Please let me know as soon as possible if you would like to be a volunteer this year!
Homework
Weekly Homework:
Homework is sent home as a packet the start of each week, and is due on Friday's. If your child misplaces their homework, please call (503-916-6350 x71829), email or stop by for a new homework packet.Reading Homework:
Monthly reading logs will come home with the first homework packet of each month. Your child needs to read for 20 minutes each night, and you record one book title each night onto the reading log. Return the form at the end of every month, and your child will receive a reading certificate for completing his or her reading homework for the month. If your child reads 20 nights of the month, he or she will receive a free Pizza Hut pizza certificate! Students who read for 20 nights every month of the school year will earn a PIZZA PARTY at the end of the year!
