A Message from the Principal

Well here we are at the end of the first semester.  The students have worked very hard this term as have the teachers and I feel that overall we have had some pretty good results.  This next term is going to be focused on getting all of our students through the Statewide Assessment as well as promoting all of our 8th graders to high school.  Two very large tasks.

This spring you are going to be hearing a lot about the Bernstein Program here at Jackson.  Many of our teachers are putting together units to do with their classes which will really bring the curriculum alive for the students.  We will also be having several get togethers to learn more about the program as well as raise money to support the model in future years.  Please watch the Upcoming Events section of the calendar so that you can attend one of the events.

Finally, we have our 5th grade Open House on Tuesday, February 7th at 7:00 in our auditorium.  This is designed for anybody and everybody who will have a student attending 6th grade at Jackson next school year.  We are also inviting those families who are looking to try to transfer to our building from another school.  So if you have a 5th grader make sure that you are here!  Also, if you know of a family that has a student in a private school who is considering Jackson, please let them know about the event so they can come and see what a great little gem we have tucked away here in southwest Portland.  Thank you for your help!

Have a great weekend!

John Ferraro
