WELCOME TO THE HUMBOLDT LIBRARY 2O1O-2011

Library Staff & Use

The library is staffed on Tuesday, Wednesday morning, and Thursday by Mrs. Janice Hopkins [jhopkins@pps.net ] our Library Assistant.

Our library currently has about 11,000 volumes which are divided into several categories—Fiction (novels); Everybody (picture books/easy readers); Nonfiction; Reference (non-circulating), and a Professional collection.

Library books are checked out and in electronically.   Automated overdue messages are sent to email addresses listed in ESIS (District’s student record program).   If parent/guardians have any questions regarding overdue/damaged library books, please contact Mrs. Hopkins.

Students in the Library

At Humboldt, children in grades PK-8 come to the library once a week for story-time and/or to check out books on Tuesday, Wednesday morning, or Thursday.  Each child in grades PK-2 may check out one book per week and cannot take books home; grades 3-8 may check out up to two books weekly and take their books home. Books are due one week after check out.  Students can renew their book if there is not a waiting list for them.

Students are expected to take care of their library books (textbooks are included) and if they take library books home, they should bring them back in good condition on or before their next class visit to the library!

Library priviledges are suspended when a book is overdue, damaged, or lost.  Library privileges are reinstated when overdue/lost/damaged books are returned or paid for.  There are no fine charges only for lost/damaged books!  At the end of each year, students are expected to return, pay for, or replace books before receiving their final report card.
