WHO
The committee is made up of any Hosford parent that wants to help with raising Foundation funds and planning Foundation events. The Foundation Committee is now a sub-committee of our well-established PTSA.
WHAT
The Foundation enables parents to raise money to purchase additional staff for their schools. It is the ONLY way we can raise money to purchase staff, because we cannot use funds raised by the PTSA. Staff might include teachers, educational assistants, librarian, IT specialist, etc.
WHEN
We are gradually expanding our activities and will have "spurts" of activity throughout the school year. We have a family bowling event planned every September. Our 5th Annual Community Event benefiting the Foundation is planned for February - look for an encore of our delicious International Flavors! We will also have a couple of restaurant fundraisers and we are very excited to announce that we will be partnering with Barnes & Noble to put on a book fair in November.
WHERE
At Hosford and throughout the SE community that surrounds our school. Committee meetings may happen at school or at member's homes - whatever works best for the committee.
WHY
To help provide the best possible education for all of our children. To bridge the gap of too little funding from the Portland Public School District. To bring all of our community together to celebrate what is unique and very special about Hosford Middle School. We hope you will consider being a part of this important (and fun!) committee.
