Getting Ready for the 2011-12 School Year
Dear Hosford Students and Families,
Welcome to 2011-12! I am very excited about the upcoming school year and the program that we will be offering. This letter is designed to provide you with important information that will prepare you for the start of the year. Enjoy the rest of summer vacation!
Open House: Tuesday September 13th 6:30 - 8:00!
First Day/School Start/End Times: The first day of school is Tuesday Sept. 6th. The first bell rings at 9:10 and the tardy bell rings at 9:16. The cafeteria opens for breakfast at 8:55. When arriving at school the drop off area is located at the south end of 19th Place. All students are to follow the paved path around to the back of the school and wait for the cafeteria to open or the first bell to ring. The dismissal bell rings each at at 3:45 and students are expected to be on their way home by 4:00.
Schedules: During the week of Aug. 29th students/families will receive their class schedule, via U.S. mail, and information on how to access assistance if there are schedule concerns. On Tuesday Sept. 6th, all students will report to Advisory/Homeroom class to receive a locker and participate in welcome back activities. At the end of the first day students will return to Advisory class and receive their registration packet to take home to their family.
Registration Packets: These packets will be sent home with students the first day of school. These packets contain important information: Registration Forms, Parent/Student Handbook, PTSA information etc. Please take time to look through all this information carefully. The Registration form is especially important. Please update this form, sign, and return with the other necessary forms to your Advisory teacher.
Community Care Day: Come one, come all, staff, students and parents! Please join us Saturday, August 27, 2011, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., to landscape the campus in time for the first day of school. Starbuck’s employees will be partnering with us. Grab your tools and gloves (mark with your name) and we will see you in the sun!
6th Grade/New to Hosford 7th and 8th Grade Orientation: All new students and their families are invited to come get a jumpstart to the school year. Get your questions answered, practice opening lockers, and find your classes! Join us Monday, August 29, 2011, 6:00 – 7:00 pm in the gym. Orientation will be followed by our annual ice cream social.
Ice Cream Social: Our annual all school ice cream social will be held Monday, August, 29, 2011, 7:00 - 8:00 pm. Please join us in the cafeteria for this informal affair.
Student Fees: The costs of student planners, field trips, assemblies, guest speakers, ID cards and materials for elective/exploratory classes continue to rise amidst decreased school funding. To help offset these costs we ask that each family pay/donate fees according to the schedule below. Information regarding fees will be a part of the registration packets.
