Dear Hayhurst/Odyssey Community,
Important Hayhurst PTA meeting this Tuesday, please consider attending (see general agenda below). Also KG roundup is on Tuesday as well (see attachment).
Attached is info on the Dr. Seuss parade on March 2 and an interesting seminar is coming in April.
Daughters of the American Revolution honors two Hayhurst students with 1st place awards (see below and attached essay)!!
Rieke PTA guest speaker on February 29th (see below).
NW Children's Theater's annual benefit auction is next Friday evening. Some great stuff there and tickets are just $35 this year.

DAR Honors two Hayhurst Students!!
The members of the Beaver Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution honored two Hayhurst Elementary students at the chapter's annual student award ceremony on February 9, 2012.
Vivian Monteiro 1st place- 5th grade winner of the American History DAR Essay Contest for her essay "Young America Takes a Stand: The War of 1812"
Lauren Koll, 1st place 5th grade winner of the Junior American Citizen's Art Contest for her drawing "Enhancing the Present"

The Rieke PTA invites you to hear Dr. Kathy Masarie, acclaimed pediatrician and founder of the nonprofit Full Esteem Ahead, speak on “Compassionate Communication” as part of the Rieke PTA Parent Education Series:
Wednesday Feb. 29 at 6:30 pm in the Rieke Library, 1405 SW Vermont Street.
The event is free, though donations are accepted. We apologize but we are unable to provide child care at this event.

Saturday Academy Summer Camps
Dear TAG Coordinator,
Good news! The Saturday Academy Tag Challenge Camp returns in 2012 with a new theme and a host of new classes. This year we will be exploring “Our Place in the Universe” and investigating the unique characteristics of planet earth and the mysteries of space.
· For students entering grades 4-5, camp will take place the week of
June 18 – 22 at Reed College.
· For entering grades 6-8, camp will take place the week of
July 30 – August 3 at University of Portland.
