October Class News:
Mrs. Bunnell's first grade class has been reading fables by Leo Lionni. We have been writing narratives about our pets and learning about making a rough draft and final copy. We have a visitor each Friday named Mr. Music. He is really Mr. Clarke, a retired music/band instructor, who is helping us to learn more about the ORFF instruments and other instruments as well. We do fun songs with him. Our class also went to Capitol Hill School to hear a string ensemble from the Oregon Symphony. They are helping us to know more about the instruments also. We have been learning about life cycles of the butterfly, praying mantis, beetle, and ladybug as well as the apple. In math we are learning to solve problems involving addition and subtraction, telling time, and money. We learned about paper making from Sandy Reid when she helped us make paper a few weeks ago. She brought lots of information about trees as well.
Sandi Reid from the Talk About Trees program came to our class. She taught us about trees and how to make paper.
