Shopping is Fundraising

Use gift cards purchased through PTA to do your shopping. There is no cost to you!

There are gift cards for groceries, restaurants, retailers, automotive, and much more. You just fill out an order and submit it to the main office by the dates listed below. The gift cards arrive on Friday of the same week so you can use them for your regular purchases. There is no cost to you-if you purchase $100 in gift cards you receive $100. The merchants charge our PTA a little less and that's how we raise funds for school and classroom activities. It's easy!

Last order for 2012-2013 is due 6/3. Ordering resumes in the fall.

to English as a

Second Language Department

Hello! Welcome to my English Language Development and Literacy Support classroom! I am working with many wonderful students. I am very proud of the hard work they do every day. My students come from a wide variety of cultural and language backgrounds. Their families have come to Grout from countries on five continents. I teach English Language Development (ELD) to several groups of students. ELD is specialized instruction in English to students who are working towards reaching an advanced level of proficiency in English. In addition to teaching ELD, I also support students with literacy instruction. This year I will be working with 1st graders in small group reading instruction. This work supports the entire 1st grade team in meeting the reading needs of every student.

I have been teaching in Portland Public Schools since 1999. I spent several years teaching ESL at Roosevelt High School. I have been teaching at Grout since 2007. I really enjoy being part of the great staff at Grout! Prior to working and living in Portland, I spent some time teaching English in Slovakia, and working with teachers of English in the Philippines. I live in Portland with my husband and my two children.
