We are 28 third-grade students and a 10-year teacher in a classroom with a view of the misty West Hills. We are curious about things, we laugh alot, and we work hard. We are proud of what we can do.
Several students in our class speak a language in addition to English: Burmese, Karen, and Maay-Maay. We are also learning to speak the languages of mathematics, science, and art.
This year we are reading a variety of literature and producing a body of writing of our own that we share together. We adore reading and writing stories. We have been studying Rocks and Minerals and connecting ideas from Earth science. This year we hope to learn about matter; about bridges and the choices engineers make; about plants; about the history and geography of Portland and our local area. We love to create art, and have a wonderful partnership with the Cooley Art Gallery on the campus of Reed College, which is a stone's throw (okay, a long throw) from our classroom.
This site is young. Come back again...perhaps we'll have photographs of ourselves and our work to look at.
