Wieden and Kennedy is widely recognized as one of the best advertising firms in the world, some of their clients are: Nike, Coca Cola, Old Spice and Chrysler. Would you like to spend a morning at Wieden & Kennedy, behind the scenes with Creative Directors and Writers, Studio Designers, Interactive Producers, Media Directors, and Brand Designers? Wieden and Kennedy will host a Career Day on March 5th. Applications and more details are available in your College and Career Center. But hurry up! Spaces are limited. The Rotary Club of Portland is providing again the opportunity for high school students to explore the challenges and dynamics of the business world through Enterprise Academy. Enterprise Academy is a weekend retreat where students have the opportunity to interact with successful business people, make a variety of critical business decisions and explore deeply every business discipline, including product innovation, finance, labor relations, marketing, law, advertising and retail. Mt. Scott Community Center is hosting a Careers in Engineering Night on Friday February 16th from 7-9pm. We will have local college reps, engineers, engineer students, and a lot of fun hands-on activities. We'll also have pizza and refreshments. All students, staff and parents are welcome. Interested in a future in the criminal justice field? Western Oregon University will host its 27th annual Criminal Justice Careers Day on Wednesday, March 6. The Criminal Justice Careers Day is the perfect time to explore educational and employment opportunities in the field of criminal justice. Attendance is free and family members are welcome to attend. Lunch will be provided. Talk to Raquel in room 108. Are you interested in science, technology, engineering, math, or design careers? The Engineers Week High School Program is back! The event will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at the Double Tree Hotel. Each student will be sponsored by an engineer before dispersing on one of dozens of company tours. The day ends with a big banquet with a keynote speaker. Registration is open. Talk to Raquel in room 108 to apply. Attention current sophomores and juniors! The Cancer CURE Summer Program in partnership with OHSU is looking for students that would like to participate in the CURE summer internship. The CURE program is an 8 to 10 weeks paid research internship where you will be matched with a cancer specific researcher over the summer. Hands-on career ed and experience with a landscape architect: All students and adults interested in working with an excellent landscape architect Pat Lando in all stages of developing the FHS nature trail, from measurements to stakeholder objectives to finished drawings, please contact Edie Gillis at fhs.food.gardens@gmail.com. Students will get documented service hours for work for FHS, plus a letter for employers/colleges and a certificate indicating the knowledge and skills learned/practiced, the character strengths exemplified in the volunteer service, their names listed in the nature trail permanent signage and our website, and their own papers.
