I was born in Bogota, Colombia and moved to the United States at eight years of age.  I lived in Kansas City, Missouri through high school.  It was a great place to live but my interests drew me to the University of Arizona.  There, I started as a pre-med student and was majoring in microbiology and at the beginning of my sophomore year; Chemistry put an end to my medical career. However, I explored different languages and I fell in love with learning more about my native language, which is Spanish.  I explored different careers utilizing my bilingualism and one of my jobs brought me to this beautiful state.  Albeit that I knew my passion involved education and languages.  A year later, I packed up my belongings, got in my car and moved to Portland after being accepted to the Graduate Teacher Education Program at Portland State University.  I spent the next eleven years at Milwaukie High School where I taught all levels of Spanish and coached volleyball.  Following this experience, I worked as a vice principal and a director for charter schools in the Estacada school district.  Unbelievably, I am entering my third year as vice principal at FHS and I feel so happy to be at Franklin where I have enjoyed getting to meet so many wonderful students and staff.  This truly is a very special community of which I am proud to be a part.  

Currently I am still a student.  I am working on my doctoral degree in educational leadership.  I am recently married and live with my husband, son, daughter and our two dogs.  When not at Franklin, I love to watch my children participate in their many activities and I love to spend time outside as well as travel.  While I did not follow my original career path, I have never had any regrets in choosing to be an educator.  I think high school students are incredible.  I love the energy that they bring and seeing their growth from the time they enter as freshmen to graduation.  I feel so fortunate to be a part of this Franklin family.
