*POETRY OUT LOUD is a national poetry recitation competition and this year Franklin will hold their own competition to choose a student to compete at the state level.  The school competition was held on January 13, 2011 at 3:45 in the choir room.  Congratulations to Kai Russell who will now move on to the next level of competition; Kai recited "Jabbrewocky" by Lewis Carroll.  Also competing were Rory Hackney who recited "Song of the Powers" by David Mason, and Sara D'Ambrosia who recited "Insomnia" by Dante Gabriel Rossetti.  These fine students offered exceptional recitations of these complex and powerful poems.  For more information about the competition and poems eligible for recitation, see http://poetryoutloud.org/.  Enjoy these pictures of the students (click on the picture to see a larger image).
