FHS Quaker PTSA Wins Multiple Awards at OPTA Convention
Franklin Quaker PTSA sent 5 voting delegates to the Oregon PTA’s 100th convention on April 19 - 20th, and had 10 total members present at the Reflections luncheon to cheer on Franklin junior, Pearla Zavala, as she received the OPTA Reflections Award of Excellence and Award of Merit. FHS Quaker PTSA Co-President Roger Kirchner received the LUV award (Local Unit Volunteer) and lapel pin at the Awards luncheon. The FHS PTSA was also presented with an engraved plaque awarded for “Membership Honor Roll,” thanks in part to our Membership Chairperson Jan Humber’s dedication and to all of the FHS community who joined our PTSA earlier this year. FHS PTSA also received the Unit in Good Standing Leadership Award as well as the Membership Increase Challenge and Earlybird Awards. Fellow FHS PTSA member Laura Smoyer was Glencoe PTA’s LUV award recipient. All of the Franklin attendees donated to the Teacher Education Scholarships, helping Oregon PTA raise money for eight, $500.00 Scholarships for Oregon students studying to be teachers. Students, please ask our PTSA how you can apply for the OPTA TES Scholarship. The 100th Oregon PTA Convention also included a celebration of Portland Council PTA’s 100-plus years of advocating for children and youth. Congratulations to all. A special thank you to all Franklin Quaker PTSA members for their support and efforts for children and families in our school.

Senior All Night Party Meeting....Each year the Franklin PTA sponsors the Senior All Night Party (SANP). This is an opportunity for seniors to celebrate their graduation in a controlled, drug and alcohol-free atmosphere with friends and fellow students. With graduation fast approaching and little (or no!) planning done yeat, we need to get on this ASAP! Remember, that this time-honored event cannot take place without volunteers! The Senior All Night Party is fast approaching and we need your help during this event. This is a drug and alcohol free party for all Graduating Seniors for the Class of 2013. It is to honor all their hard work and accomplishments. The fun begins on Tuesday June 11th at 9:30pm and ends the following day at 5:00am June 12th. We whisk them off to a secret location for an evening of fun and memories!!!!!
The Senior All Night Party committee needs your help. We are looking for parents who can help chaperone. There are several time slots available or you can be brave and volunteer to help the whole night. It is actually really fun!!!!!
