Dear Faubion Families:

This month promises to live up to its reputation as a short, yet event-filled month. Love is in the air! The Groundhog has made his prediction of 6 more weeks of winter but the sun is shining in Portland right now!

This month we have Informational Sessions about Faubion  scheduled  for Prospective Families. On February 15, we will be hosting “Movin’ on Up Night.”  This event is open to those families who are interested in learning about our PK and Kindergarten Program,  our Middle School Program, and High School Transfer Choices. Please invite anyone who is interested in finding out what’s happening in our wonderful school.

I hope to see you at the monthly “Cup of Tea with Principal Lee” on Wednesday, February 8th.  This month’s guest is Rhys Scholes from Portland Public School’s Facilities Department.  He will discuss the district’s plan for school updates and improvements, including those to our school.  Please join us for to hear more about this pertinent subject.  Light refreshments and childcare will be available.

February 14th promises to be a spectacular day at Faubion!  The day begins with a 

wonderful workshop for Faubion families called “Telling Your Story” faciliated by Renee Mitchell.  Renee’s journalism career led her to be twice nominated for the prestigious 

Pulitzer Prize!  She will lead this workshop where families can share and learn to tell about their family history.  We hope you can attend this powerful workshop with your student.  

The Friendship Dance caps off the fun-filled day!  Each grade grouping can move to the music in the celebration of friendship.  We have a wonderful committee of PTA volunteers who will be decorating the gym with balloons and streamers.  The PTA will be setting up a Valentines Store where students can purchase gifts for family and friends.  Item prices will range from 50 cents to two dollars.  Families are welcome to attend this fun event.

It is always good to see each one of you walking our hallways and coming by to pick up your children. It is evident how much you care for them and want what is best for them. We are all fortunate to have this wonderful little school to call “our home away from home.”
