Faubion School

Greetings Fabion families!

            It is my pleasure to introduce myself as Faubion's new sixth grade language arts and social studies teacher for the 2011-2012 school year!  I am so excited to be a part of the Faubion community and have enjoyed getting to know the students as they make the transition from elementary to middle school. Although I am new to Faubion, I have been teaching middle-schoolers for nine years now and am just thrilled to be a part of this pivotal time in students' lives.  I am committed to helping all students become the best readers, writers, speakers, and thinkers they can be, while giving them the tools and skills they need to be caring, informed, contributing members of our community and the academic world that lie ahead of them.

            Currently, we are reading the novel Seedfolks, by Paul Fleischman, beginning our study of early humans and ancient civilizations, reading and writing poetry, all while learning and practicing new organizational skills to navigate learning at the middle school level.  The most exciting news from sixth grade, though, is our upcoming trip to OUTDOOR SCHOOL!  The students and I will be leaving for the Sandy River Outdoor School site on Sunday, October 9th where we will embark on a three day and two night adventure filled with exploring science in our world, building community with classmates, and nurturing personal growth. I  can't wait to share this experience with the kids- what an amazing beginning to a new school year!
