Kindergarten Rocks!!!!!!!!
Welcome to December in Kinder!!!
To prepare for the holiday season, and in an effort to keep kids engaged while we work up to our winter break; we will be taking a trip around the world exploring traditions in other countries including Israel, Mexico, and ending here in the United States. We will explore celebrations of different cultures, family traditions, and world travel. The kids will make and decorate a suitcase, and learn how to use passports. In the passports we will look at a map, practice writing, and record our learning. This will be a fun way to explore certain traditions in different cultures.
Right before our winter break, we will make gingerbread houses after we read the Gingerbread Man book. They will also create their own Gingerbread Man book to take home. Parents please check with your child’s teacher to find out what they would like you to bring for our gingerbread houses. This should be a fun way to wrap up our December unit, and send the students off for a great break.
“Burrrr it’s cold outside!”
With our weather turning colder and colder over the next few weeks, please remember to send your child to school with a coat on. We want all of our students to stay healthy this cold and flu season. Please help them to remember to bring their coats.
You can also help us by bringing disinfecting wipes to help us keep our space clean and free of flu germs. Thank you!
Important things to remember:
-
School BEGINS at 8:30 am and students are dismissed at 3:00 PM. If you are not present to pick your child up at 3:00, by 3:10 your child will be waiting for you in the main office; as I have meetings and other plannings taking place after school.
-
Please keep your child home if they are sick. I know it is hard for kids to miss school, but we want to keep all students as healthy as possible throughout the school year.
-
Homework goes home in their purple folders every Monday, and is not expected back until Friday morning.
-
Please check your child’s backpack each night for messages.
-
Please turn in your background check form to Ms. Penny.
-
Finally, please sign up for PTA. This is an easy way to get to know other families and support our school!
-
WE NEED MORE DISINFECTING WIPES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you can supply some, please do.
Note to parents: A big thanks to my parents for all of your help and support so far this year. I could not have gotten this far into the year with out you. Please continue to show your smiling faces in the classroom. I enjoy having you there and the students do as well. Thank you, thank you, thank you, and thank you again!!!
